About
I am JR. Online I go by dniminenn. Multidisciplinary engineer, based on the east coast of Canada.
My interests have a habit of turning into involuntary deep dives. A question like “how accurate can a twenty dollar clock actually be” turns into hardware timestamping, kernel ioctls, and three nights of staring at chrony output. That is most of what ends up here.
I have spent my career across industrial and manufacturing systems, cloud systems at scale, embedded systems, firmware, and hardware. The connective tissue is software, Linux and Unix, networks, and operational technology, the layers that have to keep running whether or not anyone is watching.
Where the name comes from
The handle is older than the blog. dniminenn is my EVE Online character, Darius Niminenn, who has undocked into rather more dangerous space than anything you will read about here. dnim is mind spelled backwards. I only noticed that a good while after picking the name, and I have been quietly pleased about it ever since.
